IV COMPETITION OF FIGURATIVE PAINTING  AND SCULPTURE - SPAIN

Every artist can participate in this IV Competition of Figurative Painting and Sculpture 2009 with only one work, original and unpublished with free theme and technique, in the formality of Figurative Art. Minimum dimensions of 60x60 cm and maximum of 300x200 cm. in Painting. In Sculpture the maximum dimensions will be of 200 cms for the biggest side, without counting plinth or support and the minimum ones of 50 cm, without limit of weight, in definitive material.  

First prize painting of Euro 36.000 / First prize of sculpture of Euro 44.000 / 120.000 Euro for acquisition of works / A scholarship.

DESIGN CONTEST ON THE THEME OF THE REST - ITALY 
Deadline: May 14th 2009 
Typology: design 

The theme of this edition of the contest is open to the planning of objects conceived on the consideration of new models related to the rituality of the rest in the domestic environment. 

Rest is to be considered as: energies' recovery, relax, decompression from a day of job, night time sleep, siesta, ecc…The rediscovery of the Applied Arts can help the planner to give particularly to the environment and the objects, that such added value to be able to speak of  "meaningful objects". The theme therefore will have to develop the project of a domestic space and particularly the development of an object related to the rituality of the rest. The contest is open to all the Italian planners or foreigners. 

First Prize of Euro 10.000,00 with faculty to realize the prototype that will enter to bepart

SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE CREATION AND DIFFUSION OF THE ARTS - SPAIN
Deadline: March 2 nd 2009   

The objective of this contest is that to facilitate the development and the consolidation of artistic and creative projects in Spain supporting the emergent creative young people (musical projects, stage, of plastic and visual arts, audiovisual and literature).   

60.000 Euro of grant will be distributed in helps, with a maximum of 12.000 for each project.

XIV PAINTING COMPETITION - SPAIN

Artists of any nationality can participate to the competition with a maximum of two works, with liberty of theme and technique and a minimum format of one meter and a maximum of two, in any side. CALL FOR ARTISTS – PALESTINE
Deadline: not specified

Seeking two European Artists skilled in either public art or sculpting to participate in public art project "Celebrating Women in Culture" in a town of Palestine. The artists will participate in two-week long residency program alongside ten Palestinian artists. Depending on artist's availability the residency will begin between March 15 and April 15th at a total duration of two weeks within this time period. You will contribute in the conceptualization and technical instruction pertaining toward the creation of a 20 meter by 5 meter civic-minded public mural resulting from this project. The materials used for the two week workshop will largely be decided by the two European artists.
We are looking for new techniques to be used to construct large-scale public art. Currently we are planning to sculpt the majority of the mural from clay but are open to new methods such as steel, stone, and alternative forms of casting. All expenses for artists will be covered along with a per diem as stipulated by the European Commission. We are in the process of obtaining funds to cover additional payment to the artists for their time and effort. All materials, food, transportation, residency, pocket money and basic needs will be covered by the project partners, The Open Workshop for Culture and Arts and The Women Affairs Technical Committee and the project sponsor, The European Commissions.

IV PAINTING PRIZE - SPAIN

A municipality in Spain announce a IV Painting Prize of Small Format, with the purpose to stimulate and to promote the artistic creation among the citizens. Artists of any nationality or residence can participate to the contest. The works can be realized in any technique, with free theme and with dimensions not inferior to 24 x 19 cm. and not superior to 73 x 60 cm. The Painting Prize consists in 12.000 Euro. CALL FOR PROJECT FOR A CONTEMPORARY ART CENTER – RUSSIA

Deadline: 02 March 2009

This international competition is aimed at promoting among local population and professional artistic community the future residence of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Kaliningrad The following projects are eligible for the competition: developed by Russian and international artists for implementation in the period from May to September 2009, newly created and never shown before, related to the centre and meant for demonstration on its territory. Three artistic projects will be supported. Maximum amount of funds requested for materials for implementation of one project should not exceed equivalent to $2000.Additionally organisers cover travel, accommodation and meals for 6 days in Kaliningrad. Materials and travel expenses are to be paid by organisers directly. Money is not to be transferred to authors.  Authors of the three selected projects come to Kaliningrad for setting up, taking part in preparation and opening. Set up should last no longer than 6 days. Authors of the projects selected for implementation receive fee equivalent to $500 per each artist. The organisers will provide part of equipment for implementation of the project. If necessary the equipment can be installed both inside (no access for audience, however) and outside the building.

CONTEXT OF CONTEMPORARY PAINTING - SPAIN

Artists of any nationality can participate to this competition.

The introduced Works will have to be original, been winning in any other Contest. Only one work for artist. The authors will have complete freedom of theme, material, technique and aesthetical tendency. The dimension of the works cannot overcome the 2 x 2 meters neither to be inferior to 1 x 1 meter. They will be awarded the followings prizes: First prize of Euro 3.000,00, Second Prize of  Euro 1.500,00, two honorable mentions of 500,00 Euro each. INTERNATIONAL PRINT COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION – JAPAN

Deadline: 15 March 2009

A museum in Japan is pleased to announce a competitive international exhibition of best innovative intaglio print art. (etching, dry point, mezzotint, aquatint, etc.) in the world today. A grand prize of ¥1,000,000 and two second prizes of ¥400,000 with 15 more honorable mentioned to be exhibited at the museum. Open to all artists.
Original work of intaglio prints and print-based work. Work dimension to be within 1 meter in height by 1 meter in width, 30 centimeter in depth (1m x 1m x 30cm). Work must be original by the submitting artist, previously unreleased and must have been produced after July 1, 2007. Work does not have to be produced especially for this competition. Matted or Framed work will not be accepted.

Each artist may submit up to three (3) works. A set of work consist of three separate format (such as triptych) to be counted as three works. Prize winners are encouraged to travel to Tokyo for prize giving ceremony and reception by artists’ own expense.

INTERNATIONAL CONTEST OF ART DESIGN - ITALY 

Deadline: April 1 st 2009. 

An Italian Association organizes a contest of ideas with the title: Alternative strategies of the way of living in nature. 

The contest is finalized to the selection of a "prototype" of temporary shelter to build quickly and low cost, that have to be essential and in harmony with the carsic environment, using the existing resources adaptable to such purpose (natural and not) and working on the morphology of the places (natural shelter, cave, subsidence). The installation has to be able to be assembled in 24 hours and dismounted in 12 hours. Maximum dimensions: 2,5 m x 2,5 m x 2,5 m H. A kit of first necessity, a map of the zone with the indications of the existing services (libraries, internet points, museums, galleries and public toilets and services) must be added too.. The Contest is open Italians and foreigners under 40. 

Prize for the best project: 

- Euro 2000,00 

- Hospitality during the realization of the project in San Martino del Carso, Italy. The author of the selected project is invited to  direct and to participate in the execution of the work and, for this aim he will be informed about the calendar of the workshop.

CONTEST FOR A GARDEN - ITALY 

Deadline: February 28 th 2009 

An Italian firm announces a contest of ideas for the planning of a garden that will highly remain as testimony of a suggestive event: the burial of the 10 objects, winners of the contest "The most beautiful things of the world". The 10 objects will be sent to the future, to the archaeologists that will perhaps find them again, among the wonder of their contemporaries, in some thousands of years. Insofar the garden will have to operate on the public an emotional release, a vague yelding of the reason, a smile. The garden will have a surface of around 160 mqs; it approximately has a quadrilateral form: short sides of 8-9 mt, long sides around the 19 mt.  The garden will be realized in Lerici ( La Spezia, Italy) inside a public park, 20-30 meters away from the sea. It will be inaccessible from the public because it will remain surrounded by the actual hedge. Its construction can foresee the simple use of grassy arboreal essences and/or total or partial   flooring of the area, with material proper for the public use. It is allowed the construction of manufactured articles in masonry, wood, marble, metals and other durable material,  the installation of elements of urban furniture, illumination implants, fountains, water's mirrors, enclosures, etc. The general cost of the realization of the garden ( all the expenses included) won't have to overcome the 10.000 Euro.  

The winner  will receive a prize of Euro 2.000,00.

CONTEST OF PHOTO - SPAIN

A Spanish Institution announces a contest of photo with the title: "Capture Dance" where the dance, in all of its formalities, will be the theme and composition of the photos. Professionals and amateurs can participate to the context. Maximum of 1work for author.

VIDEO COMPETITION - ITALY

An Italian cultural association organizes, the twelfth edition of the Prize " Invents a film". Theme: THE DREAMS. The registration is free and open to everybody. The films will be projected in Lenola, Italy,  from July 29 to August 2 nd 2009. For the Italian authors the first prize consists in technical means for the realization of a new short film for a value of around 10.000 Euro. The second and the third classified, the best director, the best screen-play, the best interpreter, the best cutting,  the best original sonorous column, the best photo will be also rewarded. DESIGN CONTEST PER WOMEN - ITALY

An Italian enterprise announces a contest of Design conceived with the purpose to give visibility to the female creativeness to the service of the industry. 

The contest is open to the students of the Faculties of Design and to professionals, of minimum twenty-two years. 

Original and innovative projects of seats are admitted (chairs, stools, armchairs), tables, complements of furniture, conceived for the sector contract and/or residential, for inside and for outside, to be realized entirely in metal , in metal combined with plastic, wood, leather, fabric or entirely in plastic. 

The Jury will select three projects to which the following prizes will be assigned:

A City in USA, will issue a call for proposals for a land art installation to be completed as a part of the Program. It will be located on the west side of the city near the existing Open Space Visitor Center.

The organization is highly interested in hosting artists who can imagine and create work based on the use of exotic flora which is so prevalent in the area and who can design functional or symbolic systems for water harvesting.

RESIDENCE FOR ARTISTS – JAPAN

For this program of residence, the artists are called to produce works full of originality, influenced by the timeless nature of the place, deep in the Japanese countryside, and inspiration from interacting with the friendly local people. PERIOD OF PROGRAM : September 1 - November 9, 2009. NUMBER OF INVITATION ARTISTS: 3 artists. The organization will pay the artist for:

- the travel expenses in economic class

- material allowance up to 300,000JPY,

- the living cost of 100,000JPY

The organization will also provide to the artist a studio, apartment, car, computer and mobile phone.

To apply for the program, applicant must:

- be involved with painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, land art and other art making. Grants are not made in the disciplines of performance art or production art.

- be able to be independent and capable of working and living on one's own.

- be able to produce at least of one piece of art and give a presentation of works including display and withdrawal for oneself within the period.

- be able to lead community life with other artists on the program and to communicate with local people including the exchange program.

- be able to speak and understand either English or Japanese daily conversation.

- be in good health

FELLOWSHIP 2009 – ITALY

Typology: residence for artists
A residence for artists in Chianti, Italy grants a fellowship for one month in the 2009.
This programme is open to artists between 18 and 35 years old, proposing innovative projects reflecting an opening to the human, social and economic contexts surrounding them.
Disciplines: Architecture (architecture design, urban studies, landscape design), Photography, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Installation.
The fellowship recipient is granted Euro 1000 to cover expenses (art material, meals, local transport, etc.), in addition living space and studios free of charge.
The selected artist is provided with a shared room and workspace in a shared studio for a 30 day period
The recipient may choose a 30 day time from January 15 to April 30 2009.
During the stay, the selected artist is asked to give at least one informal lecture concerning his/her work, open to the public in general. The artist-in-residence is asked to leave one piece of work made during his/her stay as a donation to Municipality that offers the fellowship.
